TOUR I (EVERY MONDAY)
TULE-TEOTITLÁN DEL VALLE-MITLA-FACTORY OF MEZCAL
This tour begins with a visit to the town of Santa María el Tule, where you can see one of the most famous trees in the world. Continuing with the tour you will visit a Zapotecan shop where extraordinary pure wool, naturally dyed colored rugs are made (a demonstration is included), then you'll visit Teotitlan del Valle, another picturesque town located only 32 km from the city.
Later continue on to Mitla, where you will see one of the most important and original archeological zones in Mexico. We will admire its palaces, tombs, ornamental design and tiles perfectly elaborated by the craftsmen. Also located in this area on the tour is a crafts market.
Returning from Mitla, there will be a visit to a Mezcal making Ranch, where you will be able to taste the distinct flavors of this liquor, such as: apple, coffee, blueberry, etc. Here, you will also be able to enjoy exquisite Oaxacan cuisine.

TOUR II (EVERY THURSDAY)
MONTE ALBAN-ARRAZOLA-CUILAPAM-ZAACHILA
Monte Alban is the most important archeological zone in Mesoamerica, it is located 10 km from the city. It is a rectangular plaza consisting of palaces, temples, areas used for worship, courts for playing football, and tombs. Additionally, visitors may count on a museum site, a bookstore and a cafeteria.
Arrazola, is located 10 km from Oaxaca. Observe the beautiful handicraft “alebrige” pieces, which represent the innovative spirit and unreal Oaxacan soul through the formation of carved, painted figures.
Cuilapam de Guerrero, situated 12 km from Oaxaca City. This township has a beautiful archeological arrangement, consisting of a temple, an ex-convent, and a monumental open chapel. This open structure's heritage descends from gothic origen and a Dominican construction style, and is the same place where General Vincent Guerrero was held prisoner and murdered.
Zaachila, positioned 15 km from the city. This site was the last capital of the Zapotecan Empire. Also, every Wednesday experience the indigenous market that takes place in this town. |

TOUR III (EVERY FRIDAY)
COYOTEPEC-JALIETZA-OCOTLÁN
San Bartolo Coyotepec is located 13 km from Oaxaca City; the town's principal tourist attractions are black clay handicrafts, which are made by craftsmen of this area.
S anto Tomas Jalietza is situated 25 km from the city; it is the typical place for embroideries and back strap weaving.
In Ocotlán de Morelos, a small town located 30 km from Oaxaca City, there every Friday a traveling market is set up, in which vegetables, fruits, clay handicrafts, basket weaving, cutlery, things made with “jarceía”, cuir and leather goods can be purchased. A special attraction of this site is the Dominican church and ex-convent, which was built in the XVI century. This construction has recently been restored with the support of the municipal authority and painter, Rodolfo Morales, whose house is used as the Museum Shop, which displays his paintings.
