ROUTE: MEXICO CITY-PUEBLA-OAXACA-SOLA DE VEGA-PUERTO ESCONDIDO.

From Mexico City take toll road 150 to Puebla ; continue on the Autopista Puebla Cordoba150-0 (toll road), until you reach the intersection with the Superhighway Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca, and continue on this road until you reach Oaxaca City .

This trip will take approximately 5 hours.

From Oaxaca City continue to San Bartolo Coyotepec; approximately 15 kilometers. A few kilometers down the road, turn right on Federal Highway 131 in direction of Sola de Vega. Continue on this road until you arrive in Puerto Escondido. The trip covers approximately 254 kilometers.

The approximate time for this trip is 5:30 hours.

ROUTE: MEXICO CITY-PUEBLA-OAXACA-POCHUTLA-PUERTO ESCONDIDO

From Mexico City you take the toll road Autopista 150 to Puebla ; continue on Autopista 150-0 Puebla Cordoba until you reach the intersection of the Superhighway Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca, and continue until you reach Oaxaca City .

This trip will take approximately 5 hours.

From Oaxaca City take Federal Highway 175 in the direction of Pochutla Puerto Angel. Shortly after Pochuta is the intersection for the Federal Coast Highway 200; turn right on Federal Highway 200 and continue until you reach Puerto Escondido.

The trip takes approximately 6 hours.

HOW TO GET THERE: MEXICO CITY TO PUERTO ESCONDIDO

The are two main bus lines out of Mexico City : Estrella Blanca and Cristobal Colon.

Estrella Blanca Bus line:

There are nightly departures starting at 7:00 P.M. The buses leave from the Tasqueña Station which is located in the south of Mexico City . There are usually three departures with intervals of one hour. During the vacation season there are three extra departures to satisfy the demand. The price of the ticket is approximately $450 pesos. This trip takes about 12 hours; you will arrive early in Puerto Escondido, with enough time to find lodging in case you do not have a reservation.

Cristobal Colon Bus line:

There is one departure from the North Terminal ( Terminal del Norte ) at 4:30 P.M. The other departure is from the Tasqueña Station at 6:15 P.M. The trip on the Cristobal Colon Bus is longer. It takes 16 hours because it goes to Salina Cruz in the Isthmus of Tehuatepec before continuing on to Puerto Escondido.
The advantage of this route is that the road is less winding because you do not travel over the mountainous section between Miahuatlan and Pochutla and the Cristobal Colon buses are more modern and up-to-date.

HOW TO GET THERE: OAXACA CITY TO PUERTO ESCONDIDO

There are three bus lines: Cristobal Colon (first class); and two second class bus lines: Oaxaca Pacifico and Estrella del Valle.

OAXACA PACIFICO Y ESTRELLA DEL VALLE:
There are 9 departures daily. The departure times are: 5:00 - 6:00 - 7:00 - 8:00 - 9:00 - 10:00 - 11:00 - 12:00 - 13:00 - 14:00 - 15:00 - 20:15 y 22:30 hours.
